Open Mind Meditation
August 21, 2023
If
you meditate regularly, chances are that you’ve meditated using different
methods, on different subjects. You sit down with a particular need or want in
mind, and meditate on it. But, have you ever just sat in meditation and invited
the Higher Power or the Universe to tell you what you need? Not many people have,
or thought that they needed to.
What does that mean?
It
means... sitting in your favorite comfortable meditating position, closing your
eyes, and instead of stating your wants and desires, sitting in quiet stillness
and listening; actively listening to what you're being guided towards. After
all, your plans aren't actually the ones in play.
Why not?
Because
it’s scary. You have no idea what you’re opening yourself up
to, and that’s scary because it’s the appearance that we’re giving up control
(that we don’t actually have, anyway). It’s comparable to sitting in your
boss’s office and just listening for twenty minutes straight about steps you
need to take to improve your job performance. That doesn’t sound like an ideal
way to spend your time.
The Ugly Truth
We
need that information so we can grow. We need to sit in these uncomfortable
situations and absorb it because it’s nutritional for our spirits. We need to
invite the discomfort so we can find a way to make it comfortable.
Practice
Consider
this method for a future meditation session. While you’re settling into your
spot, call out to the Source and the Universe to sit with you. Ask them what
they want for you. Ask them what you need to do to make your dreams come true, and
fulfill the purpose that you’ve been placed here. Ask them to light your path,
then just sit back and listen. Listen with your heart and your spirit. Be
prepared for the answer, good or bad.
They’ll
answer.
